Dream Interpretations

Anybody else take the time to interpret their dreams? It seems that dreams are our bodies way of dealing with the emotions we keep all bunched up, or that we just don't know about. I had a pretty weird one last night, where I can't really remember the specific "plot" of the dream, but there were certain objects in the dream that really stood out. I hadn't had a dream this symbolic in a while, so I've gotten a friend of mine to interpret it (she has a really good book on the subject. I usually get her to interpret my crazy dreams). As I'm about to go to work, I think I'll be a complete jackass and leave you here with a cliffhanger (insert smug smile here), and give you the dream and interpretation tomorrow!

Until then, here are some good tunes to fall asleep to (and would probably be pretty cool to have in your dreams, imo)

If you've had a crazy dream lately, let me know in the comments! I'll do my best to give you basic interpretations from my own sources, and then let you go from there!

I'm Starting to Feel Like an Old Man...

I mean, as I write this, I'm eating healthy cereal. Like, who am I now??

Anyways, on facebook, I follow Sarah Palin as a joke, because to me, thats all she is. Sometimes I get a good laugh out of her (or should I say, her PR person's) posts, because they're always just so "American"...but today was different. Today, I was offended. Not as someone who was affected by 9/11 (because in reality, I wasn't), or as an American (as I'm Canadian. I know all you foreigners think we're pretty much the same, but contrary to popular belief, we're not!), but as a Political Science major and just a person in general. Here is the post.

"Ten years ago today, ordinary Americans went to work or boarded a plane and found themselves fighting on the frontlines of a battle they did not choose. They acquitted themselves with grace and courage, just as the thousands of men and women who enlisted to fight in our armed forces—many on the anniversaries of this day—in order to exact justice for their fellow Americans. We will never forget those who died ten years ago today, we will never forget those who died in the war that started on that day, and we ask God to comfort and bless their families. From across this great nation, grateful Americans honor those who defend our homeland. God bless America.
- Sarah Palin"

The part in bold/italics is the part that offended me, as I find it very inappropriate. It just seems like a sentence to really get those real right wing folks on board with her, and is no better of a statement than "Show me the birth certificate". We never seem to remember all the tens of thousands innocent Afghan's and Iraqi's that have died over the last 10 years, due to the "war that started on this day", but we will the few thousand Americans. It just kind of makes me feel uneasy to see someone essentially classify these wars, as wars of revenge (which they totally were), just to stay relevant in the Political system. Patriotism is a bitch I guess, and all these politicians have to capitalize on it (and that's about all shes good for).

Now, don't get me wrong here. There have also been plenty of American troops who have passed on in these wars, and whose families lives have been put through many trials. Every person serving in the military deserves their credit and our support, even if you don't support the wars that they serve in. On a side note, I'd like to give a shout out to my main man Al Penwasser, and his post on 9/11. He was serving in the military at the time, and has a really good perspective; check it!

Anyways, thats just my liberal 2 cents. Time to go watch football, and finish my healthy cereal (ugh, I still can't believe I'm on this). I'm making my girlfriend watch football for the first time, and to keep it interesting, I'm making her count every time they say either "football" or "coverage". This should be hilarious.

Jimi Hendrix vs Wu-Tang...The History of Hip Hop and a Free Tune From Noah D/Roommate

Yes, this did happen, and yes, it is awesome. I just bought the mp3's last night, took a listen, and have no regrets spending the ten dollars. Buy it here or just stream it here. Personally, I haven't found a mash-up album I've liked since Dangermouse's "Grey Album" (a mash-up of Jay-Z's 'Black Album' and The Beatles 'White Album'), but this is one of the rawest mixtapes I've heard all year. Wu and Jimi were just meant to be together I guess. Here's a few samples for you:

A while back, the guys at The Rub did a bunch of mixes, showcasing the best Hip Hop tracks from each year that Hip Hop has been around (1979-2010). Some personal favorites of mine are 1989, 1992, 1998, 2002, and for the clubs 2005/2006

And since I haven't really done this for a while...here's a free tune from Noah D and Roommate, on the more Reggae type vibes.

Also, last night was my University Orientation. It was quite weird, since I'm only 22, yet still technically a mature student...so the orientation really wasn't geared towards me. It was more about how to connect with the younger generation. And while the kids in their first years all all 5 years younger than me (still a lot different), I'm not THAT disconnected with them.

Guess Who's Back?

Ahoy there, fellow bloggers!

It's been a long two weeks, but I've finally returned home (and finally have internet again). Orientation for University is tomorrow, so I got off on Saturday night, went camping, and got back Monday. Working was quite intense; every day was 12-15 hours, plus an hour drive there and back. As you can tell, the worksite was kind of in the middle of nowhere. (btw, you can click on any of the pics to make them larger)

Yep, I was down in farm country, where the temperature was consistently 33 degrees (91 for you Americans!) outside. Which, really isn't too bad, but it gets super hot working inside the house itself. It must have been closer to 36-37 degrees inside. This made all the flies that had somehow gotten into the house, coup themselves up against the windows at all times. It was really gross.

Luckily, by the time I left, the temperature was closer to 15 degrees, so all the flies died off. Pidgeons were apparently living in there too (poop was all in the rafters) but I didn't see any.

Here's the tool I used the most...

You need to drill the holes through all the studs/floor boards and pull all the wire through it...

And that is how all of your houses circuits are done up!

This picture is for everyone who saw the last post. Here is the gym, with their kids slide to give you an idea of how big it really is (it took both me and my stepdad to move that slide, btw. Its probably 8 feet long).

And as I said, at the end of all of it, me, my gf and a bunch of my friends went camping in Waterton National Park, one of my favorite places in the world. I think this picture sums up why I love it so much. Its just so beautiful.

That about does it for now though. Now that I'm back, I can't wait to go through all your blogs and see what you've been up to! I also have a few more posts in the making, so expect those in a few days!

postin on the job

Alright folks, quick post today as I'm currently on the job.

For the next week and a half, I'm in a town 3 hours away, working long hours, and have no internet. I'm helping my stepdad do the electrical wiring in a 10000 square foot house . I'm going to be posting pictures as I.get a chance (and after I figure out how to get my phones blogger app going), but posts are going to be a little less frequent. This place is super cool though. Not only is it just HUGE, but there is a gym in it, that is the size of an average house (we've estimated it to be 1000-1200 square feet).

Anyways, hope you're all doing well, and we'll see you more frequently in a bit!

Bieber Fever Taken to the Next Level

I don't really have anything against Bieber's music; he's just another teen pop sensation, like the Backstreet Boys or N*Sync (or to a different extent, O-Town) were to my generation, or hell, even New Kids on the Block before that. In time he'll fade away, or become a "serious" artist and his music will grow up with his fans. But holy shit am I tired of hearing about him. I mean, his fans are just ridiculous about expressing their love for this kid. You've all seen that video of the little girl who wants to marry him, you've all heard of how he gets rushed at malls and all that...but have you heard the DIRTY BIEBER SECRETS people are cooping up inside? Have you? I don't think you have. This tumblr is a place where people can anonymously send in their fantasies about the Bieb. Some of these have to be trolls...but some have to be legit too. Prepare to be scarred for life, as these fantasies have quite...graphic descriptions.
