Today's News...

Like I've said before, I love the news, and am constantly checking up on it. I just got off work, so here's what I found interesting on August 9, 2011.

Obviously, I must start off with some pictures the riots in London, and then in the rest of the UK . Hopefully this madness gets sorted soon...
While we're at it, here's a good video. This man knew something of this magnitude was coming, and makes some excellent points.

Leigh Stubbs, Mississippi Woman, Serving 44-Year Sentence Despite Discredited Testimony...and that "discredited testimony" comes from a self proclaimed "wound pattern expert, a trace metals expert, a gun shot residue expert, a gunshot reconstruction expert, a crime scene investigator, a blood spatter expert, a "tool mark" expert, a fingernail scratch expert and an expert in "liquid splash patterns." In Stubbs case, he using his special video enhancement techniques, that are way more effective than the FBI. This is a long read, but if you're into law, then its worth the read.

On the lighter side of things, Adult Kickball Leagues are on the rise in New Jersey. Still isn't any reason to go to Jersey, as there are still 35 other states with organized Kickball leagues.

Scientists have apparently found a new way to create spermless mosquito's, to help curb Malaria. They've been able to do this for a while, by blasting males with radiation. However, that method wasn't too effective, as it made the male mosquito's super frail, and just gave them no chance of surviving. Now they have a new method where they inject embryos with some RNA to "turn off" the gene that triggers sperm development. Over a few generations, a number of males lose their fertility. Which is promising, until you realize that number was 100 out of 10 000 embryos. I'm just stoked to see we're actively fighting the War on Mosquito's. If there is one extinction I'm down to embrace, its this one!

The Pentagon’s mach 20 missile ready for its practicum.
Oh DARPA, why are you so cool...yet so cruel. This scares me.

This story just boggles me. A man is seen driving down the highway, is throwing cash around as he drives, then hits, and kills two people. I only wish there was more evidence of why he was throwing out the money... I need to decide if this is karma or not.

And for those who still have faith in Hollywood, a Smurfs sequel is set for 2013. Lets hope the Mayans are right in 2012.

Also, for my dubstep heads, you need to give this a listen. Even if you've never heard of dubstep, but want to hear something new, then listen to this mix. The songs are quality, and the MC is quite entertaining too.

  1. The gall of that newscaster to say he condoned the riots. He should have her job, hehe.

I think we've got to keep a few mosquitoes to keep the balance in the world. Extinction would only detriment the world, imho.

Now extinction for the smurfs, that would benefit everyone. Great post, as usual.

  3. Mosquitoes are annoying enough in the northern hemisphere, think about what it must be like down in the tropics, where a single bite can do some serious damage...

  6. That darpa story is a bit scary. Now we only have to wait 30 minutes to kill every living human! Now that is progress! It is like the microwave oven of the nuclear world.

  19. Prefer that hand held recorder video of that dood, just straight going off, dropping the wisdom. Should be elected as prime minister.

What if in all of our various countries the wisest, most experienced of us took leadership positions rather than the most deceptive, manipulative of us. Honestly just imagine what it would be like to live on this planet. Would be pretty nice.
